BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN A. TYMESON

Brigadier General John Tymeson assumed duties as Deputy Adjutant General, Iowa Army National Guard, Camp Dodge, Johnston, Iowa on 1 September 1998. As Deputy Adjutant General, Iowa Army National Guard, he assists in formulating the policy and implementation for the Department of Public Defense. He is responsible for the development and execution of the State budget and legislative liaison.

The General's active military service began in 1967 when he went on active duty in the warrant officer
flight training program. He qualified and served as a medical evacuation pilot in Vietnam. He was
commissioned in 1970 as direct appointment to Signal Corps Aviator. Prior to this assignment, General
Tymeson served as Chief of Staff and most recently as the Assistant Adjutant General, Iowa Army
National Guard. In that capacity, General Tymeson was responsible for mobilization and readiness of the Iowa Army National Guard.
