Brigadier General Edwin H. Roberts Jr. was assigned duties as Deputy Commanding General (ARNG), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in April 2000. His major responsibilities include serving as the primary interface between the Commanding General (CG), TRADOC, and the National Guard Bureau (NGB), to include the Director of the Army Guard, Vice Chief and Chief of NGB. He also serves as the liaison between the CG, TRADOC and the Adjutants General, both Army and Air, for issues affecting the States, to include the Army School System (TASS), Reserve Officers Training Corp, Initial Entry Training, Advanced Individual Training, Combat Training Center issues, and the utilization of the National Guard in emerging missions. Other duties include coordination with TRADOC staff, post commanders, and school commandants regarding ARNG issues and providing input to TASS as well as apprising the ARNG general officer leadership of significant items of interest or policy concerning TRADOC.
General Roberts' military career began in May 1970, when he was commissioned an Armor officer following completion of Reserve Officers Training Corps. Prior to this assignment, General Roberts served as Squadron Commander, 1st Squadron, 108th Armored Cavalry Regiment, and most recently as Commander, 155th Separate Armored Brigade (Heavy), Mississippi Army National Guard.
