MAJOR GENERAL WILLIAM J. DAVIES

 

Assistant to the Director, Plans and Policy, Headquarters U.S. European Command

Major General William Davies assumed the duties of the Deputy Director, Joint Interagency Coordination Group (JIACG), Headquarters U.S. European Command in October, 2001.  As the Deputy Director, JIACG, he is responsible for the synchronization of U.S. and international interagency processes by coordinating information sharing between U.S. agencies, the U.S. military, and coalition partners.  Additionally, he advises the Director and CINCEUR on the application of non-military instruments of national power in U.S. EUCOM's theater campaign against terrorism.

General Davies' military service began in 1961 when he joined the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1966 he joined the California Army National Guard where he has served in key positions ever since. He commanded an aviation group headquarters company, a forward support battalion and a division aviation brigade. General Davies' recent assignments include the director, mobilization and reserve component affairs, U.S. European Command, and special assistant to the director ARNG for Army National Guard and European affairs. While in this capacity he advised the director on matters pertaining to pre-mobilization activities, mobilization, deployment, and employment of ARNG forces to the European area of operations.
