BRIGADIER GENERAL DALE R. BARBER

Brigadier General Dale Barber assumed duties as the Commander, 53d Troop Command, New York Army National Guard on January 2, 1999. As Commander, he provides command and control to combat service, combat service support elements consisting of 46 units and 3,400 personnel.

The General's active military service began in 1970. He was commissioned an ordnance officer upon graduation from ROTC. Prior to his current assignment Brigadier General Barber served as the Commander, 27th Infantry Brigade (Enhanced) New York Army National Guard and most recently as the Deputy Commander, 42d Infantry Division, New York Army National Guard. In that capacity General Barber was responsible for fighting the rear battle to include: the overall control and coordination of Support activities for a heavy division to include integration of DISCOM efforts, addressing all areas of maintenance, medical, transportation and all classes of supply, and providing C2 for all units operating in the Division Rear.
