BRIGADIER GENERAL STEVEN C. SPEER

 

Brigadier General Steven C. Speer is the state director of operations also serving as J5/7, Headquarters, Pennsylvania National Guard, Annville, Penn. As director, J5/7, he is responsible to the adjutant general and components for Strategic Planning and Initiatives, Joint Force Development. Transformation, International Affairs, Training and Exercises.

The general enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1969 and served in several career fields before being commissioned in the Air National Guard at the Professional Military Education Center in 1974. His career has included numerous operational flying and command assignments in airlift, combat rescue and special operations. While on an extended five-year active duty tour, he served as the Air National Guard chief of Airlift, Rescue and Special Operations programs. He completed his Headquarters Air Force tour as the executive officer to the director of the Air National Guard. He has commanded at the squadron, group, and has commanded two wings prior to his current assignment. The general is a master navigator with more than 6,275 flying hours.
