Joint Task Force ' Civil Support
Major General Bruce M. Lawlor was assigned as the first Commanding General, Joint Task Force ' Civil Support in October 1999. As the Commanding General, he is responsible for planning and integrating Department of Defense (DoD) support to civil authorities following a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high yield explosive (CBRNE) incident within the United States, its territories and possessions and for deploying to a CBRNE incident site to provide command and control of responding DoD forces.
The General's military service began in 1967. After service in Vietnam from 1971 to 1973, he received a Direct Commission in 1974 as an Intelligence Officer. Prior to his current assignment BG Lawlor served as the Deputy Director, Operations, Readiness and Mobilization within the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans, Department of the Army in Washington, D.C. He also served as Brigade Commander, 86th Brigade, Special Assistant, Supreme Allied Commander Europe and as an Assistant Division Commander, 42nd Infantry Division.
