BRIGADIER GENERAL GARY A. BREWINGTON

gab.jpg (39236 bytes)Brigadier General Gary A. Brewington is the Deputy Commanding General, Air, Headquarters, Idaho National Guard. His responsibilities include the training and combat readiness of all units assigned to the Idaho ANG.

General Brewington began his military career by enlisting in the Idaho Air National Guard in 1961, where he was initially assigned to the Combat Alert Center at Group Operations. He was assigned to pilot training at Williams AFB, Arizona, in 1965, and then went on for advanced training at Perrin AFB, Texas. Upon completion of pilot training he returned to the Boise based unit, and has held a variety of positions including Squadron Operations Officer; Commander, 190th TRS; Chief of Standardization & Evaluation; Chief of Safety; Deputy Commander, Operations, and Commander, 124th TRG, and Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Idaho Air National Guard. In January of 1998 he assumed his present position as Deputy Commanding General, Air, Idaho National Guard. General Brewington is a command pilot with over 4,300 hours in jet engine aircraft and is rated in both single and multi-engine operation including the T-33, F-102, RF-4C Phantom and the F-4G Wild Weasel aircraft.
