BRIGADIER GENERAL TAD J. SCHAUER
Brig Gen Tad J. Schauer is Assistant Adjutant General - Air at Joint Force Headquarters, 119th Wing, Fargo, N.D. His responsibilities include ensuring overall unit readiness and ability to rapidly provide Airmen to support operational plans and contingency operations. He also supports the state with domestic operations response capabilities when directed by the Governor of North Dakota. He serves as principal advisor to the Adjutant General for all matters pertaining to the North Dakota Air National Guard.
Brig Gen Schauer entered the North Dakota Air National Guard on February 1, 1986 as an airman in the Propulsion Branch of the 119th Component Maintenance Flight. He attended North Dakota State University and was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science, Knoxville, Tenn. He has over 37 years of military service. He was selected to command and stand up the 219th Security Forces Squadron, a first of its kind Total Force Integration Unit supporting the nuclear enterprise. Prior to his current position, Brig Gen Schauer served as the Director of Staff – Air, Joint Force Headquarters, North Dakota National Guard, Fraine Barracks, Bismarck, N.D.
