BRIGADIER GENERAL CLARENCE K. MAYNUS, JR

 
Official Photo Brig. Gen. Clarence Maynus is the Ohio Air National Guard Chief of Staff at Joint Force Headquarters, Columbus, Ohio. In this role, he leads and manages the Ohio Air National Guard State Headquarters staff in their support to subordinate units. His leadership and oversight ensure the mission readiness of more than 5100 personnel in the Ohio Air National Guard’s four wings and four geographically separated units who are poised to support community, state, and federal missions. In addition, he serves in a “dual-hat” position as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, Headquarters Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He supports the Deputy Chief of Staff with leadership, management and integration of Air Force logistics, readiness, aircraft and missile maintenance, civil engineering and security forces, as well as setting policy and preparing budget estimates that reflect enhancements to productivity, combat readiness and quality of life for Airmen.

Brig. Gen. Maynus first enlisted into the active-duty Air Force in 1986 and served as an aircraft propulsion specialist on multiple aircrafts. He then joined the West Virginia Air National Guard in 1996 and later commissioned in 2006 as a Logistics Readiness Officer. He has a decade of command time in a variety of positions to include Force Support Squadron Commander, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander, and a Maintenance Operations Flight Commander. He served as Inspector General at the 130th Airlift Wing, Charleston, West Virginia and the 179th AW, Mansfield, Ohio. In 2017, Brig. Gen. Maynus served as the Deputy Maintenance Group Commander, at the 179th AW, Mansfield, Ohio before serving as the 121st Air Refueling Wing Vice Wing Commander, Columbus, Ohio. He has deployed three times as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Prior to his current position, General Maynus served as the Director of Human Resources, Ohio JFHQ, Columbus, Ohio.
