BRIGADIER GENERAL TROY D. HAVENER
Brig. Gen. Troy D. Havener is Chief of Staff, South Dakota Air National Guard. He is responsible for oversight of the Air Component staff and provides guidance on South Dakota Air National Guard policy and personnel actions. He also serves as the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, United States Air Force Warfare Center, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. In this capacity, General Havener assists the United States Air Force Warfare Center Commander in overseeing five wings and two named units in the execution of total force operational test, tactics development, and advanced training efforts. Brig. Gen. Havener is also Director, Air National Guard Commander Leadership Course, responsible for leading a team to coordinate and execute courses to prepare leaders for group and wing command.
Brig Gen Havener was commissioned in 1993 as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He served over nine years in the active-duty Air Force and then joined the Air National Guard in 2002. He has served in the Iowa, Minnesota, California, Nevada, and South Dakota Air National Guard, and has been part of National Guard Bureau Staff. He commanded the Air National Guard Distributed Training Operations Center, and he served as 144thFighter Wing Commander. Prior to his current position, the general was the Assistant Adjutant General, South Dakota Air National Guard.
Brig. Gen. Havener is a command pilot with more than 3,600 flying hours in the F-16C/D, F15C/D, AT-38B, T-38, and T-37, including more than 350 combat hours.
