Brigadier General Charles E. Chinnock Jr is the chief of staff for Headquarters, Nevada Air National Guard, Nevada Military Department, Carson City, Nev. He is responsible for the administrative functions, personnel, and coordination of special projects for the headquarters function. The Nevada Air National Guard trains and deploys over 1,100 personnel worldwide in support of total force commitments providing tactical airlift, Scathe View reconnaissance and intelligence exploitation. The Nevada Air National Guard is comprised of state headquarters, the 152nd Airlift Wing, and the 152nd Intelligence Squadron.
The general enlisted in the Nevada Air National Guard in November 1967 and received a direct commission in April 1968 before attending and completing undergraduate pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, Okla. In December 1990 when the 152d Reconnaissance Wing deployed to the island nation of Bahrain in Southwest Asia, he flew intelligence gathering missions along the Iraq, Kuwaiti-Saudi borders during Operation Desert Shield; he then later flew 25 combat missions into Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. The general was the commander when the 152d Reconnaissance Group converted to C-130's and was renamed the 152d Airlift Wing in January 1996.
