BRIGADIER GENERAL JEFFREY R. ALEXANDER
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey R. Alexander is Chief of Staff of the Michigan Air National Guard and serves as the United States Air Force Global Strike Command’s ANG Advisor for Strategic Plans, Programs, and Requirements Directorate. In these roles, he provides strategic counsel and management for the entire Michigan Air National Guard, comprising over 2,400 Airmen, provides insight to the National All Domain Warfighting Center / the Kelly Johnson Joint All Domain Innovation Center, and directs the $97 billion Program Objective Memorandum (POM) for U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command’s nuclear modernization.
General Alexander is a 1990 Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps graduate from North Carolina State University, Raleigh. He graduated from Naval Flight School in 1992. In the Navy, he flew multiple fixed-wing and rotary aircraft before transferring to the Air Force in 1999, flying the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. In 2003, he transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, where he was instrumental in establishing an Air Force Cyberspace Air Operations Center and cyber integration into the Air Force Warfare Center. In 2008, he transferred to United States Strategic Command - Joint Functional Component Command for Global Strike at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He created operational directives for deterrence and conducted full-spectrum informational global plans. After retiring from active duty in 2011, he joined the Air National Guard. In October 2013, he was the Director, Operations Staff, 217th Air Operations Group, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, Michigan, where he planned non-kinetic operations for multiple combatant commands. As the 110th Operations Group Commander, he stood up MQ-9 and Cyber operations squadrons in the Michigan Air National Guard. During COVID, he was appointed to be the deputy JTF commander supporting the Governors of Michigan’s requirements. Prior to his current position, he served as the A3/A5 Director Joint Force Headquarters in Lansing, Michigan.
