Deputy Rear Area Coordinator, ROK-US Combined Forces Command
Major General Charles L. Rosenfeld assumed the duties of the Deputy Rear Area Coordinator, Republic of Korea-United States Combined Forces Command on May 1, 2003. This assignment will conclude three years as Chief of Staff (Wartime), United States Forces, Korea. As the Deputy Rear Area Coordinator, he is responsible for overall securing of the rear area, furnishing a secure environment and multi-dimensional protection of all forces in that area. He also coordinates sustainment operations, host nation support, infrastructure development and movements of the joint force within that area.
The General's military service began in December of 1968, when he was commissioned in Caracas, Venezuela, having completed ROTC at the University of Pittsburgh. His assignments reflect his military intelligence and operations background, with special assignments in Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to his current assignment, he served as the Wartime Chief of Staff, US Forces, Korea.
