BRIGADIER GENERAL MARK A. MUCKEY
Brig. Gen. Mark A. Muckey is Deputy Adjutant General-Iowa National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, Johnston, Iowa. He is responsible to the Adjutant General for directing Air National Guard operations and establishing policy to ensure readiness of over 1,900 personnel to provide mission capability in times of war, national emergency, state emergency, or other times as national security may require. General Muckey also serves in the dual-hat role as the ANG Assistant to the Inspector General, Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
General Muckey enlisted in the Iowa ANG at the 185th Fighter Wing, Sioux City, Iowa and received his commission from the Academy of Military Science. Following pilot training at Vance AFB, Okla., he flew the C-26B with the 138th Fighter Wing, Tulsa, Okla. General Muckey then flew the C-130H with the 137th Airlift Wing in Oklahoma City, Okla., and later converted with the unit to the KC-135R aerial refueling mission. He went on to serve as the ANG Advisor to Air Mobility Command/Inspector General at Scott AFB, Ill. Prior to assuming his current position, General Muckey served as Wing Commander for the 185th Air Refueling Wing, Sioux City, Iowa.
