BRIGADIER GENERAL GORDON R. MEYER

Brig. Gen. Gordon R. Meyer serves as Chief of Staff-Air for the Missouri National Guard. In this capacity, he is responsible for full-spectrum support to 2300 Airman across two wings in the Missouri Air National Guard, for local, state and federal mission sets.

Brig. Gen. Meyer began his career in aircraft maintenance with the Kansas Air National Guard, where he worked on F- 4, F-16 and B-1 aircraft. He received his commission through the Academy of Military Science before serving as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer with the Missouri Air National Guard’s 139th Airlift Wing, February 1995. Brig. Gen. Meyer commanded at the flight, squadron, and group levels in the Maintenance Group and as Mission Support Group Commander. As part of the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center cadre, he developed NVG ground operations to support Mobility Air Forces and was key to facilitating the first Air National Guard Open Skies Treaty mission.

As Director of Staff-Air for the Missouri National Guard, he was the senior full time Air Advisor to The Adjutant General. He oversaw the Joint Force Headquarters Air Staff and coordinated use of Air Guard resources for domestic operations. He served as deputy wing commander in two different wings, 131BW and 139AW. The 139AW conducts C-130 airlift operations around the globe and directly supports the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center that serves United States Mobility Air Forces and 17 allied nations. The 131BW is a Total Force Integrated wing providing full spectrum, expeditionary, B-2 global strike and combat capabilities. He previously served as the Chief of the Joint Staff responsible for support of 12,000 Army and Air personnel for the Missouri National Guard. During his career, he deployed in support of Operations CORONET OAK, SOUTHERN WATCH, and ENDURING FREEDOM. Prior to his current position, the general was the Chief of the Joint Staff, Ike Skelton Training Site, Jefferson City, Mo.
