BRIGADIER GENERAL CHRIS J. IODER

 
Official Photo Brig. Gen. Chris J. Ioder, is the Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Kansas National Guard and the Commander, Kansas Air National Guard. He serves as the chief advisor to The Adjutant General on all matters pertaining to Air National Guard programs, policies, operations, management, and command and control of the Kansas Air National Guard. He also provides staff assistance guidance and direction concerning Air National Guard personnel, administration, training, recruiting and retention, logistics, transportation, and budgetary matters. Brig. Gen. Ioder commands over 2,300 Kansas Air National Guard airmen, serving in two wings, who operate the most diverse set of missions across the Air Force portfolio. Furthermore, he is an active advisor on the Region 3 Strategic Planning System Council.”

General Ioder began his military career by enlisting in the Missouri Air National Guard as an Air Cargo Specialist in 1988. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri in December 1989. He transferred to the Kansas Air National Guard in 1991 and received his commission from the Academy of Military Science in 1992. He completed Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1993, followed by KC-135 Combat Crew Training in 1994.

While assigned to the 190th Air Refueling Wing, General Ioder held various positions, to include, Commander of the 190th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and Flight Commander in the 117th Air Refueling Squadron. As a command pilot, he flew over 4,500 flying hours, including over 80 combat sorties and over 500 hours in direct support of Operations Deny Flight, Deliberate Guard, Allied Force, Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Unified Protector. In his most recent former assignment, he served as the Director of Operations, Headquarters Kansas Air National Guard, where he worked to enhance domestic response capabilities and future planning. In his civilian capacity, he is a commercial airline pilot with over 25 years of experience and over 21,000 flying hours.
