BRIGADIER GENERAL THOMAS A. DUKES, JR
Brig. Gen. Thomas A. Dukes, Jr., serves as the Assistant Adjutant General – Air, Virginia National Guard. As such, he acts as a senior strategic advisor to the Adjutant General of Virginia. General Dukes represents the Adjutant General in all Virginia Air National Guard matters and influences policy, programs and resource management for more than 1,200 Airmen supporting 13 missions across the Commonwealth of Virginia, including three Total Force Integrated missions: F-22 air dominance, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance, and combat logistics supply chain management.
General Dukes received a direct commission as an Air Force judge advocate in 1994, following graduation from the University of Virginia School of Law. He served on active duty from 1994 to 2004, and then as a Category B (IMA) reservist from 2004 until 2015, when he joined the Virginia ANG. In his civilian life, General Dukes is Senior Vice President for Information Security and Corporate Affairs at SafeGuard Cyber, a cybersecurity start-up company based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
