MAJOR GENERAL JOHN A. LOVE

 

Major General Andy Love is the Special Assistant to the Combatant Commander, NORAD/NORTHCOM for National Guard Matters and Liaison to the Chief, NGB. He serves as the principal liaison to the Combatant Commander on matters affecting the National Guard (Army National Guard and Air National Guard). He also assists the Commander on homeland defense, civil support and aerospace defense issues under the National Guard's operational range of interest. Major General Love keeps the Chief of the National Guard Bureau abreast of critical NORAD/USNORTHCOM issues and the potential impact of those issues on the National Guard. He also coordinates all NORAD/USNORTHCOM National Guard matters with the Adjutants General of the several States and Territories, and the District of Columbia.

Major General Love entered the Colorado Air National Guard in April of 1967. In January of 1968 he was called to federal active duty in support of the Pueblo Crisis and received his commission in June of the same year. He began his career in the Colorado Air National Guard (COANG) as an aircraft mechanic, and most recently served as Assistant Adjutant General for Air and Commander. Major General Love is a command pilot with over 2500 hours in the F100, A-7, and F-16. Major General Love's last assignment was assistant to the Commander of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) and director of Air National Guard Forces, Headquarters AFSPC, Peterson Air Force Base, CO.
