BRIGADIER GENERAL SCOTT A. HOWARD

Brig. Gen. Scott A. Howard was the Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Alaska National Guard and also served as the Commander, Alaska ANG. He was responsible for the recruiting, retention, training, and equipping of over 2,300 Alaskan citizen airmen in two flying wings. He provides strategic airlift, search and rescue, aerial refueling, air defense, and space warning and surveillance capabilities in support of state and federal missions worldwide. General Howard ensured the Alaska Air National Guard maintained a constant watch and commitment to Pacific Air Forces, Air Combat Command, United States Northern Command, United States Transportation Command, Alaska North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, and Air Force Space Command.
General Howard initially earned his commission in 1998 as a graduate of Officer Training School. General Howard joined the Alaska Air National Guard in 2003 where he served as the 176th Air Defense Squadron Commander and the 168th Mission Support Group Commander. He also held a variety of Air Battle Manager flying, operation, and support assignments. Prior to his current position, he was the Director of Staff, Alaska Air National Guard.
