BRIGADIER GENERAL WAYNE M. MCCAUGHEY
Brig Gen Wayne McCaughey is the Director of the Joint Staff for the New Jersey National Guard. He is responsible for the administration, planning, development, execution and supervision of all Joint Staff Family programs that prepare the state for contingency operations in either a federal or state emergency mobilizations. Ensures contingency plans provide for alert, mobilization, deployment and employment of National Guard assets in response to a wide range of emergency situations. Oversees the state's Homeland Defense Programs and ensures dual status command is available to the President and Governor of New Jersey when called upon.
He enlisted in the Air Force in 1983 and joined the New Jersey Air National Guard in 1990. He was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science, McGhee-Tyson ANGB, Knoxville, Tennessee in October 1994 and assigned as the Commander, 108th Communications Flight. In 2006, he was assigned as the 108th Deputy Mission Support Group Commander. He was subsequently assigned as the chief and director of staff for the New Jersey Air National Guard from 2008-2017. He has served in support of operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.
