Brig. Gen. Jeffrey W. Magram was the Assistant Adjutant General, Air, California Air National Guard, Sacramento, Calif. General Magram was responsible for the administration and support of more than 4,900 Airmen statewide. The California Air National Guard was the second largest in the 54 states and territories and is comprised of five wings. Mission sets of the California Air National Guard include Combat Search and Rescue (which consist of HH-60G and HC-130J aircraft and Guardian Angel-Pararescue weapons system), a C-130J Airlift Wing, a F-15 Fighter Wing that supports two alert detachments, a MQ-9 Predator Attack Wing and the 195th Wing, which provides Intelligence, Cyber, Space and Combat Communications support.
A native of New York, General Magram enlisted in the California Air National Guard in 1985 as a musician in the 561st Air Force Band. After completing his bachelor's degree at the University of California at Berkeley in 1988, he was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science in 1989 into the 129th Rescue Wing and attended undergraduate helicopter training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. From 1991 to 1995, General Magram was assigned both to the 129th Rescue Wing as an HH-60 pilot and to the California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force where he served as an operations officer coordinating statewide counterdrug support missions. In 2001, he was named the Homeland Security and Plans Officer for the California Air National Guard. In this capacity he became a senior liaison to the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services during emergency operations. He provided assistance in state emergencies including post 9/11 support activities, major complex catastrophes, southwest border support operations and statewide wildfires and large scale emergencies. General Magram was selected as the director of State Personnel Programs for the California Military Department in 2008, served as the senior personnel officer and advisor to The Adjutant General on California Military Department state personnel programs and issues. In 2010, General Magram was selected to become the Maintenance Group commander at the 129th Rescue Wing and subsequently in 2011 was appointed as the Vice Wing Commander, 129th Rescue Wing, Moffett Federal Airfield, where he served until early 2015. During this assignment, General Magram deployed overseas as the Senior Air Reserve Component Advisor to the Commander of Air Force Central Command at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Prior to his current position, he served as the Chief of Staff of the California Air National Guard.
