MAJOR GENERAL CHARLES G. JEFFRIES

Maj. Gen. Charles G. Jeffries is the National Guard Assistant to the Commander, United States Cyber Command and the Director of the National Security Agency. He assists the Commander to organize, direct, and manage the use of the National Guard forces in support of the synchronization and coordination of cyberspace planning and operations to defend and advance national interests in collaboration with domestic and international partners. General Jeffries performs as an integrator and catalyst among the National Guard Bureau, Air National Guard, Army National Guard, Adjutants General and field units to support the command and the agency.

General Jeffries entered the United States Air Force after receiving his commission in 1991 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Miami, Florida. His experience on active duty in the Air Force includes software development for airborne battle management systems for the Airborne Command Post “Looking Glass” and the National Emergency Airborne Command Post. He served as the Deputy Chief of Requirements for the Air Force Satellite Control Network at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, where he was responsible for space command and control systems acquisitions to support Department of Defense, NASA, and national reconnaissance satellites and space vehicles. General Jeffries joined the Washington Air National Guard in 1999, and his experience includes information operations, intelligence support, and combat communications. He was the inaugural commander of the 143d Information Operations Squadron and then the 252d Cyberspace Operations Group. He voluntarily deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and was stationed at the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan.
