BRIGADIER GENERAL JEFFREY L. RYAN
Brig. Gen. Jeffrey L. Ryan serves as the Chief of Staff at Joint Force Headquarters Virginia as well as Air Component Commander of the Virginia Air National Guard. His responsibilities include leading more than 1,300 Virginia National Guard Airman to train and execute defense and support to the Commonwealth of Virginia, F-22 air dominance, worldwide intelligence operations, aviation weather support, cyber protection, global supply chain management, RED HORSE operations, medical readiness, CERFP and base operating services missions. He sets organizational goals and empowers commanders to execute their respective plans, programs and missions. He analyzes and evaluates training programs and operational readiness levels to determine mission capability and unit effectiveness. He is the primary advisor to the Adjutant General of Virginia on all Air National Guard State and Federal issues.
General Ryan was commissioned as a Distinguished Air Force Graduate in 1995 from the Virginia Military Institute. He served 4 years in the active duty as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer stationed at Moody AFB, Georgia. He subsequently transitioned to the Air Force Reserve in 2000 and joined the Virginia Air National Guard in 2002. During his career, he has deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Desert Thunder, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Additionally, through his tenure in aircraft maintenance he has held various positions supporting F-16, A-10, C-130, HH-60, C-141, and F-22 aircraft. Prior to his current assignment, General Ryan has held multiple other key leadership positions, to include, the 192d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Commander, Virginia National Guard Air Staff Director of Logistics, 192d Mission Support Group Commander, 192d Maintenance Group Commander and most recently as the 192d Vice Wing Commander.
