MAJOR GENERAL ROLF E. MAMMEN
Retired
Maj. Gen. Rolf E. Mammen was the Commander, Michigan Air National Guard. The Michigan Air National Guard is home to two operational wings and a Combat Readiness Training Center totaling over 2800 military, DoD, and State civilians who operate the A-10, KC-135, and MQ-9 as well as an Air Operations Group and Cyber Squadron.
A native of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, General Mammen earned his commission and Bachelors of Science in Astrophysics through Michigan State University's Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1986. Graduating from the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program in 1988, he served as an Instructor in the T-38 aircraft at the ENJJPT schoolhouse teaching advanced pilot training to students and instructors representing twelve NATO nations. Joining the Michigan Air National Guard in 1994, General Mammen completed C-130 Pilot Initial Qualification course as a distinguished graduate and has flown numerous operational missions across the globe. In addition, he deployed to Ali Al Salem AB Kuwait in 2004-2005 in support of combat operations as the 738th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron’s Operations Officer. General Mammen has over ten years of command experience at the Squadron, Group, and Wing levels. Prior to his assignment, General Mammen was the Commander, 127th Wing, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan.
