BRIGADIER GENERAL KIMBERLY A. BAUMANN

Brig. Gen. Kimberly A. Baumann is the Assistant Adjutant General - Air, Rhode Island National Guard.  She serves as the chief advisor to the Adjutant General on all matters pertaining to Air National Guard programs, policies, operations, management and command and control of the Rhode Island Air National Guard. She is responsible for establishing policy and monitoring operations of more than 1,000 people assigned to the Rhode Island Air National Guard.  In addition, she holds a dual-hatted responsibility as the Air National Guard Assistant to Headquarters Air Force A-2/6.

General Baumann received her commission as a distinguished graduate of the Norwich University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Program, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics; in addition, she holds Master Degrees in Operations Research and Strategic Studies as well as a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Information Technology Education.  She has served in several leadership positions at the squadron, wing, Major Command, and Headquarters Air Force level.  Her previous assignments include National Guard Bureau Chief Warfighting Capabilities and Integration  Division, 143d Communications Flight Commander, 282d Combat Communications Squadron Detachment Commander, 281st  Combat Communications Group Director of Operations, United States Central Command J6 Current Operations, Deputy Commander NGB Joint Command, Control, Communications and Computer Coordination Center, and Joint Cyber Task Force Air Force Lead for the Office of Secretary of Defense Networks and Information Integration. She has deployed in support of contingencies to include Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, NOBLE EAGLE and JUMP START.

Prior to her current position, she was the Air National Guard Advisor to the Secretary of the Air Force Chief Information Officer, Pentagon. Where she provided guidance concerning support of over 100,000 Air National Guard personnel. In addition, she provided strategic planning, policy, and standards development for Air National Guard Cyberspace operations and support for 88 Wings and 105 geographically separated units in 54 United States, territories, and in deployed locations worldwide. In her civilian capacity, the general is an information technology and cybersecurity advisor.
