Brigadier General Billy M. Nabors
Brig. Gen. Billy M. Nabors is the Assistant Adjutant General and Commander, Mississippi Air National Guard. He is responsible to the Adjutant General for directing Air National Guard operations and establishing policy to ensure the combat readiness and mission capability of the 186th Air Refueling Wing, 172nd Airlift Wing and Combat Readiness Training Center. General Nabors also serves as the state Assistant Adjutant General, providing oversite of the Mississippi National Guard Human Resources and State Resources Offices and advises the Adjutant General on fulltime issues affecting the National Guard.
General Nabors was commissioned through Officer Training School, graduated Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base in 1985 and served eight years active duty as a T-37 instructor, Air Training Command, and KC-135A/R aircraft commander, Strategic Air Command. He currently has 25 years in the MSANG, has held command at all levels of the 186 ARW, served two tours as Pacific Tanker Task Force Commander, managed Project Liberty for the National Guard and led three unit aircraft conversions. A Command pilot in the KC-135A/R, C-27J and C-12, he is a combat veteran of Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Kosovo and Enduring/Iraqi Freedom. Prior to his current position, the General was the Chief of Staff, Mississippi Air National Guard.
