Brigadier General Marshall L. Kjelvik
Brigadier General Marshall L. Kjelvik served as Chief of Staff at Joint Forces Headquarters Virginia as well as Air Component Commander of the Virginia Air National Guard. His responsibilities include leading more than 1,300 Virginia National Guard Airmen to train and execute defense and support to the Commonwealth of Virginia, F-22 air dominance, worldwide intelligence operations, aviation weather support, cyber protection, global supply chain management, RED HORSE operations, medical readiness, CERFP and base operating services missions. He sets organizational goals and empowers commanders to execute their respective plans, programs and missions. He analyzes and evaluates training programs and operational readiness levels to determine mission capability and unit effectiveness. He is the primary advisor to the Adjutant General of Virginia on all Air National Guard State and Federal issues.
Brigadier General Kjelvik enlisted in 1982 and earned his commission as a distinguished graduate of the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science in 1984. He transferred from the North Dakota Air National Guard to the Virginia Air National Guard in 2007. An instructor/evaluator and command pilot with over 2,800 flying hours in the F-16 and F-4, Brigadier General Kjelvik has served in numerous command and staff positions, including his prior assignment as Director of Staff - Air, Joint Forces Headquarters Virginia.
