BRIGADIER GENERAL LISA K. SNYDER

Brig Gen Lisa “SWAT” Snyder currently serves in the National Guard Assistants Program as the Air National Guard assistant to Defense Health Agency reporting to the Chief of Staff and also serves as the Defense Health Agency Reserve Affairs Office Director. Previous to this position, she served as the State Air Surgeon for Indiana Air National Guard, Stout Field, Ind. She was a senior advisor to The Adjutant General on matters pertaining to the 2000 Indiana Airmen’s fit for duty and readiness status at the 122nd Fighter Wing and 181st Intelligence Wing as a Traditional Guardsman as well as the multiple State Partnership lead for medical efforts. Previously, while full time, Brig Gen Snyder served as the Director of the Medical Directorate of the Secretary of the Air Force’s Medical Review Board. Her duties included leading a team of 15 personnel supporting over 550 appeal cases and ensuring timely response to over 200 case advisories for the Board of Corrections for Military Records. Currently, continuing her expertise in Air National Guard medical case realm and the Disability Evaluation System, she is Medical Director for the National Guard Bureau Surgeon General as a contractor. In 2016, she also founded and is executive director of a central Pennsylvania cat rescue.

Brig Gen Snyder commissioned into the Indiana Air National Guard in 2001 as a Captain due to credit for her medical training at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Indiana University, Methodist Hospital from 1991 to 2001. Additionally in 2001, she graduated from the Aerospace Medicine Primary at Brooks Air Force Base, TX. Brig Gen Snyder served as the Flight Surgeon for the continent of Antarctica in 2005 in service to Operation Deep Freeze. Having already completed a Master's in Public Health, she was selected to attend a residency in Aerospace Medicine (a rare privilege for a Guardsman) which propelled her to become the Chief of the Aerospace Medicine, Standards Branch at the National Guard Bureau. In 2014, she assumed command of the 181st Medical Group in Terre Haute, Ind. Brig Gen Lisa K. Snyder and then again continued her national level influence serving in 2016 as the Chief of Aerospace Medicine for the Air National Guard, Joint Base Andrews and then the Director for the Secretary of the Air Force, Medical Review Board, Medical Directorate in 2018.
