Brigadier
General A. Mark Rabin is the Chief of Staff, Illinois Air National Guard, Camp Lincoln,
Springfield, Illinois. He is responsible for directing the activities of the senior staff
members of the State Headquarters in the areas of Operations; Plans and Programs; State
Surgeon; Support; Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4); and Public Affairs.
His broad range of responsibilities include monitoring unit training plans, inspection
schedules, and readiness. General Rabin also works closely with the Commander, Illinois
Air National Guard in the development of policy on major issues and assists in the
implementation of those policies.
The general entered military service as a member of the Illinois Air National Guard in 1966. After graduating from Air Force Officer Training School, Lackland Air Force Base, in February 1968, he was assigned to the 183rd Fighter Group where he served as a Squadron Support Officer, a Supply Operations Officer, and was designated Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) for the 183rd Fighter Group in June 1975. He held this until June 1994 when he was appointed as State Judge Advocate, Headquarters, Illinois Air National Guard. General Rabin, while assigned as SJA of the 183rd Fighter Group additionally served as the Air National Guard liaison to the Judge Advocate, 12th Air Force. He was named to his present position, Chief of Staff, Illinois Air National Guard, in October 1996.
General Rabin has been engaged in the private practice of law in Springfield since November 1965. He is a member of the law firm of Rabin, Myers & Hanken, P.C., concentrating his practice in Business Law, Real Estate, and Family Law.
