Commander, Headquarters 142d Signal Brigade
Brigadier General Troy Oliver assumed duties as Commander, 142d Signal Brigade, Decatur, Alabama, on January 1, 1995. As Commander, he serves in a dual role as commander of a signal brigade composed of three reserve component and one active component signal battalions and also serves as the Signal Officer for I Corps.
The General's active military service began in 1965. He was commissioned an infantry officer following Reserve Officers' Training Corps at Florence State College, Florence, Alabama. Prior to this assignment, Brigadier General Oliver served as the Battalion Commander, 115th Signal Battalion, Florence, Alabama and most recently as Deputy Brigade Commander, 142d Signal Brigade, Decatur, Alabama. In that capacity, General Oliver was responsible for interaction and support between brigade staff elements and subordinate battalions.
