Brigadier General Jay N. Selanders
Brigadier General Jay N. Selanders is Assistant Adjutant General Air, Kansas National Guard, and also serves as Commander, Kansas Air National Guard. The Kansas Air National Guard is comprised of one refueling wing, one intelligence wing and a bombing range.
General Selanders joined the Kansas Air National Guard in June 1984, and later that year received his commission through the Academy of Military Science as a Distinguished Graduate. He attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB and Combat Crew Training at Castle AFB, CA. He flew in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions in recovering a badly damaged aircraft. He has flown in support of numerous other operations, including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He and his wife Annie, live in Kansas City where he is the Chair and Chief Executive Officer of a national law firm.
