Brigadier General Robert J. Grey was the Assistant Adjutant General for Air and Strategic Initiatives for the Virginia Air National Guard.  The Virginia Air National Guard is comprised of over 1,300 Airmen serving across multiple operational and support missions: F-22 operations and maintenance; global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; cyber protection; global logistics support; Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosive Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP), RED HORSE civil engineering, combat weather support, security forces, medical support and Base Operating Support.  The VaANG meets its federal missions to train, equip, and deploy Airmen ready to fly, fight and win; to provide continuous imagery analysis and intelligence support; to conduct defensive cyber operations and deliver fighter/bomber MICAP supplies worldwide.  He also ensures the VaANG responds to state and national emergencies as directed by the Governor of Virginia.

Brigadier General Grey was commissioned in 1991 following graduation from the United States Air Force Academy.  He served over 11 years on active duty before transitioning to the Virginia Air National Guard in 2002.  He has served in a number of flying, command and staff positions to include wing commander, maintenance group commander and Air Expeditionary Task Force deputy commander.  He is a command pilot with more than 3,300 hours in the F-22, F-16, F-15C, C-141 and C-26.  During his career he has participated in Operations Desert Fox, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom.
