BRIGADIER GENERAL VALERIA GONZALEZ-KERR

Brigadier General Valeria Gonzalez-Kerr is the Assistant Adjutant General-Support for the Florida Army National Guard. She is responsible for assisting the Adjutant General in managing the force regarding manning, training, equipping and stationing to ensure the Florida Army National Guard remains an accessible and relevant force. In addition, General Gonzalez-Kerr has responsibilities in support programs such as Force Protection, Community Outreach, Sexual Assault Response Coordination, Equal Opportunity, Education Programs, Resilience Programs, Personnel Boards, and more. Furthermore, General Gonzalez-Kerr maintains a rapid, responsive and appropriate Defense Support to Civil Authorities support force, ready and relevant in times of emergencies.

General Gonzalez-Kerr began her military career in 1984 when she was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. She entered into active duty in the United States Army in 1986 as an Army Reserve Quartermaster Officer. While on active duty, she served as Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Assistant Battalion Supply Officer with the 3rd Support Battalion (Forward) in Schweinfurt, Germany until 1989. She later transferred into the Florida National Guard in 1990. General Gonzalez-Kerr deployed as Commander of the 927th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion to Iraq in 2007. In addition, General Gonzalez-Kerr served as Commander of the Homestead-based 50th Regional Support Group and Director of Human Resources for the Florida National Guard.

CIVILIAN OCCUPATION:

She is the State Quartermaster in the Department of Military Affairs, for the state of Florida. She functions as the secondary department liaison with the Governor's Office of Policy and Budget. She advises The Adjutant General and command group on issues relating to funds, personnel, property, facilities, and policies and provides budget analyses and interpretations as necessary to properly direct the agencies budget of over $60 million, following Florida Statutes.
