Brigadier General Russell A. Rushe

Brigadier General Russell A. Rushe was the Assistant Adjutant General for Air, South Carolina National Guard, McEntire Joint National Guard Base, Eastover, South Carolina. He previously served as the Director of Staff South Carolina Air National Guard, Columbia, South Carolina.

General Rushe began his Air Force career in May 1979 when he received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of South Carolina. After completing munitions officer training he was assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina where he participated in their conversion from the RF-4C to the F-16 A/B weapons system. He completed his active duty service in January 1984 and joined the South Carolina Air National Guard in May 1984, becoming a member of the first reserve unit to receive the F-16 weapons system. General Rushe deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm as part of the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing Provisional. A career logistics officer, he has commanded two maintenance squadrons, a logistics group, and the169th Maintenance Group at the 169th Fighter Wing, McEntire Joint National Guard Base, South Carolina. He broadened his career serving as the 169th Mission Support Group Commander and the Vice Commander to the 169th Fighter Wing. He has a Master's degree in accounting and taxation from the University of South Carolina and was a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
