General Officer Biography

MAJOR GENERAL MARK R. MUSICK

 

Major General Mark R. Musick is the Mobilization Assistant to the Deputy Commander, United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He is the principal advisor to the to the Deputy Commander on Reserve Component matters and also serves as the Director of the Global Innovation and Strategy Center. The general began his Air Force career in 1973 upon receiving his commission through Officer Training School. His first operational assignment was at Lakenheath Royal Air Force Base, England, where he served as a weapon systems officer for the 493rd Tactical Fighter Squadron; from there he became an F-4 instructor in the 313th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Hahn Air Base Germany. After completing those tours, he returned to the United States and became an RF-4C instructor, weapon systems officer, operations officer, and squadron commander of the 173rd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Nebraska Air National Guard. His subsequent duties include vice wing commander and wing commander of the 155th Air Refueling Wing, and the chief of staff, Headquarters, Nebraska Air National Guard, Lincoln, Nebraska.

General Musick is a master navigator with more than 3,300 hours in the KC-135R, RF-4C, and F-4E aircraft. The general earned a Bachelor of Science Degree at Dana College, Blair, Nebraska. He is a graduate of both Air Command and Staff College and Air War College. His major awards include the Legion of Merit, the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster.
