Brigadier General Jeffrey M. Silver

Brig. Gen. Jeffrey M. Silver is the Air Component Commander for the Oregon National Guard, Joint Force Headquarters, Salem, Oregon. He maintains overall responsibility to organize, train, and equip two fighter wing units and more than 2,250 personnel within the state. General Silver also serves as the Air National Guard Co-Chairman for the National Airspace and Range Executive Council and is a designated Dual Status Commander.

General Silver was commissioned in 1984 through the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science, Knoxville, Tennessee.  Initially assigned to the 142d Fighter Wing, Portland Air National Guard Base, Portland, Oregon as an F-4C Weapons Systems Officer, he subsequently attended Undergraduate Pilot Training and thereafter served as an F-15 pilot.  His duty assignments in the 142d Fighter Wing included Commander of the Operations Support Flight, Maintenance Squadron, Maintenance Group, and Operations Group, as well as Vice Commander.  In 2011, General Silver transferred to the 173rd Fighter Wing, Kingsley Field, Klamath Falls, Oregon, assuming command of the wing in September of that year.  Following his return from deployment to Afghanistan in August, 2013, General Silver was assigned duties as the Assistant Adjutant General - Air, and Commander, Joint Domestic Operations Command for the State of Oregon.  He has served in support of Operations NORTHERN WATCH, SOUTHERN WATCH, NOBLE EAGLE and ENDURING FREEDOM.  In his civilian capacity, General Silver is a pilot with a major airline.
