BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN A. GOODALE

 

Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Idaho National Guard

Brigadier General John Goodale assumed duties as the Assistant Adjutant General - Army, Idaho National Guard, on 1 May 2012. He also serves as the Commander, Idaho Army National Guard. He is responsible for the strength, training, readiness, and management of all Army National Guard units within Idaho insuring that the units are ready to deploy worldwide and accomplish military missions in support of national defense, homeland security, natural disasters, and domestic emergencies, along with military support to state and local governments. In addition he is responsible for the coordination of policies, programs and plans affecting the Idaho Army National Guard.

General John Goodale was commissioned in 1980 through the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He has served in increasing levels of responsibility, both while on Active Duty and in the National Guard in Aviation, Cavalry, and Armor Units--with his most recent command as the 116th Cavalry Brigade Commander. General Goodale has also served as the United States Property and Fiscal Officer for Idaho, a Joint Task Force Commander, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations. His service includes over eight and a half years in the regular Army at various locations in the United States and Germany.
