MAJOR GENERAL JON K. MOTT
Maj. Gen. Mott is the Special Assistant to the Director, Air National Guard. He assists in representing the ANG in formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, plans and programs affecting more than 107,000 Air National Guard members and civilians in more than 90 wings throughout the 50 States, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. In support of the Director, he leads the efforts to increase ANG readiness, reporting and resourcing for all combat coded units to support the new National Defense Strategy. He also leads the effort for all matters related to the Aircrew Task Force which is responsible for finding innovative ways to increase pilot production and retention for both officer and enlisted aircrew while increasing inclusion and diversity. He represents the ANG leadership at the Cyber General Officer Advisory Council as well as assist in developing the organizational ANG support to the standup of the new United States Space Force.
General Mott received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the Virginia Military Institute in 1982. He is a command pilot with 90 combat missions and over 4,800 total flight hours in the A-10. His combat sorties have been flown in support of Operation Deliberate Force, Operation Allied Force and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Prior to his current assignment, Major General Mott was Director of Exercises and Training, United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), MacDill AFB, Florida. He was responsible for designing, coordinating, and conducting exercises and training, improving war-fighting capabilities, advancing USCENTCOM theater security cooperation goals, and maintaining joint and combined readiness throughout the twenty nation USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility.
