MAJOR GENERAL PAUL C. MAAS, JR

Maj. Gen. Paul C. Maas is the National Guard Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Cyber Command, Director, National Security Agency, and Chief, Central Security Service. As such, he assists the Commander to organize, direct, and manage the use of the National Guard forces in support of the Command. General Maas performs as an integrator and catalyst among the National Guard Bureau, Air National Guard, Army National Guard, Adjutants General and field units. Additionally, he previously served as Assistant to the Commander, Air Force Space Command where he advised on matters affecting over 5,000 Air National Guard forces and assigned personnel supporting operations in over 50 Air Force Space Command gained units conducting Space Operations, Command and Control, Engineering and Installation, Combat Communications and Cyberspace Warfare/Information Operations.

General Maas was commissioned in 1986 at the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science, McGhee-Tyson Air National Guard Base, Tennessee and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. Prior to his commissioning, he enlisted in the Maryland Air National Guard in January 1978 where he held numerous positions before obtaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. As a member of the Maryland Air National Guard Headquarters staff, General Maas was assigned as the lead to establish the first Information Warfare Squadron in the Air National Guard.  He has commanded at the flight, squadron and group levels.
