Major General Stephen E. Markovich

Maj. Gen. Stephen E. Markovich was the Commander of the Ohio Air National Guard, in Columbus, Ohio. He was responsible to The Adjutant General for directing Air National Guard operations and establishing policy to ensure mission readiness of more than 4,600 personnel in four flying wings and six support units that serve our communities, State, and Nation for both homeland defense and federal missions.

General Markovich entered service in 1980 through the Air Force Officer Training School following graduation from University of Michigan. He was awarded his pilot wings in 1986, and while flying as an A-7 mission pilot and F-16 instructor pilot, he attended medical school at The Ohio State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He earned his flight surgeon wings in 2003. General Markovich has served in various operations and command positions in the United States Air Force and Ohio Air National Guard and has commanded the 121st Medical Group and served as the State Air Surgeon for the Ohio Air National Guard. He is a command pilot with more than 2,000 flying hours.
