BRIGADIER GENERAL MICHAEL J. OSBURN

Brigadier General Michael J. Osburn is currently assigned as Assistant Adjutant General of Joint Forces Headquarters Indiana with duty as Commander for Joint Task Force 81 for Homeland Security, 81st Troop Command, a unit that when activated for domestic response is responsible to be ready within hours of notification to both state emergencies and nationwide emergency response.

General Osburn began his career as an enlisted soldier in the United States Army in 1975. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Indiana Army National Guard 26 June 1982. General Osburn is a 39 year veteran who deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 as Commander of 2nd Battalion, 19th Agribusiness Development Team. He served as the Deputy Commander, 81st Troop Command, during the Indiana floods of 2008. General Osburn also served as commander of Division Artillery, commanding a 1,000 person hurricanes Katrina and Rita Task Force in 2005. He was also the commander of Operation Noble Eagle from 2003 to 2005.
