BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID N. AYCOCK

 

Chief of Staff, Kosovo Forces, North Atlantic Treaty Organization

Brigadier General David N. Aycock serves as Chief of Staff, Kosovo Forces, Camp Film City, Pristina, Kosovo. He is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the North Atlantic Treaty Organization peace support operation JOINT GUARDIAN for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. In this capacity he serves as the executive supervisor and coordinating officer of this large, multi-national, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Joint Headquarters comprised of staff personnel from over 30 contributing nations. These duties include planning of coalition warfighting operations, oversight of boundary activities with Serbian Armed Forces through the Joint Implementation Commission and joint effects coordination to maintain the internal security of Kosovo. General Aycock also serves as the principle military advisor to the United States Ambassador to Kosovo.

General Aycock enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard in May 1980. He attended the United States Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia and received his commission in 1981. He has served in a variety of command and staff positions at the state and national level as a traditional National Guard Soldier and as a member of the Active Guard and Reserve program.
