Adjutant General - Army, Wyoming National Guard
Brigadier General Steven R. Mount is is the Assistant Adjutant General for the Wyoming Army National Guard, serving as its commander, with headquarters in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He is responsible for unit readiness, leadership and strategic planning to support all state and federal mission requirements for the more than 1,700 soldiers located in 17 locations across Wyoming. Units of the Wyoming Army National Guard include field artillery, engineer, maintenance, aviation, command and control, signal, medical, logistics, a training school and an Army band. Major commands include the 115th Fires Brigade, 94th Troop Command, Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center, 213th Regiment-Regional Training Institute and the Wyoming Joint Force Headquarters.
General Mount began his military career on active duty in, Company H, First Battalion (Reinforced), 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), in 1974. He enlisted in the Wyoming Army National Guard's B Battery, 3-49th Field Artillery in 1982, five years after leaving active duty. General Mount graduated from the Wyoming Military Academy in 1984 and was assigned as the Communications Platoon Leader for the Headquarters, Headquarters Battery of the 3-49th Field Artillery. He has held a number of command positions in the field artillery community, including commanding C Battery, 3-49th Field Artillery and 2nd Battalion, 300th Field Artillery.
General Mount also served as Fire Support Coordinator, United States Forces-Iraq.
