BRIGADIER GENERAL GREGORY N. STROUD

 

Commander, 162nd Fighter Wing

Brigadier General Gregory N. Stroud is Commander, 162nd Fighter Wing, Arizona Air National Guard Base located at Tucson International Airport, Tucson, Arizona. He assumed the position in May 2010. General Stroud commands the largest Air National Guard fighter wing with more than 1,440 military members and 70 F-16s. The wing consists of three flying squadrons and provides maintenance support for the Air National Guard/Air Force Reserve Command Test Center. Detachments under his command include Operation Snowbird and Air Sovereignty Alert, both located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.

General Stroud received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University in 1980, and received his commission from the Navy's Aviation Officer's Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, in August 1981. He joined the 162nd Fighter Wing in September 1988 and has commanded at all levels within the 162nd Fighter Wing. He has flown more than 4,800 hours in the T-34, T-2, A-4, F-5, A-7, and the F-16.
