Director of
the Joint Staff, Puerto Rico Army National Guard
Brigadier General Victor S. Perez is Director, Joint Staff, Puerto Rico National Guard. His primary role is to coordinate and direct National Guard Homeland Defense (HLD) Operations. When activated in consent between the Governor and the Secretary of Defense, General Perez commands Title 10 and Title 32 forces assigned to Puerto Rico in support of consequence management operations.
General Perez graduated Magna Cum Laude and Distinguished Military Student from the University of Puerto Rico and later obtained his Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. Prior to receiving his commission, General Perez served as an infantry enlisted soldier in the 2nd Battalion 39th Infantry Brigade, Fort Lewis, Washington.
Prior to his current assignment, General Perez served as Chief of the Joint Staff, Puerto Rico National Guard. During his tenure, he was responsible for directing and managing the administration, coordination, planning, development, execution and supervision of all Joint Staff programs in preparing the state for contingency operation and support to civilian authorities. General Perez oversaw all manning, equipping, training and readiness functions for the Puerto Rico National Guard, organization composed of over 10,000 Citizen-Soldiers (Army and Air) and its full-time work force (Active Guard Reserve, Federal, State and contracted employees).
