Brigadier General Marie T. Field is the assistant adjutant general for Air, Massachusetts Joint Force Headquarters. She is responsible for oversight of all Air National Guard units in Massachusetts, and is tasked with ensuring their ability to respond to peacetime contingencies while maintaining readiness to accomplish their wartime missions.
The general has held various positions in both the Air Force Reserves and the Air National Guard. She started her military career in August of 1978 as a nurse in the Air Force Reserves. Her experience in the Reserves was largely as an aeromedical evacuation nurse and flight nurse instructor. General Field's aeromedical evacuation experience includes patient transport in both the Pacific and the European theatres on C-141's and simulated tactical aeromedical evacuation on C-130's. General Field joined the Air National Guard in October of 1988. She is the former Commander and Chief Nurse Executive of the 104th Medical Squadron at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Westfield, MA. She is also the former Air National Guard (Air National Guard) Assistant to the Assistant Air Force Surgeon General for Nursing. As Air National Guard Assistant to the Air Force Chief Nurse, Brig. Gen. Field was involved with the development, evaluation and promotion of nursing policies and programs for 19,000 active duty, Guard and Reserve nursing service personnel. General Field is currently the Assistant Adjutant General for Air at the Massachusetts Joint Force Headquarters.
In her civilian career, General Field is the clinical educator for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. She has been employed with Brigham and Women's Hospital since 1981.
