BRIGADIER GENERAL DONALD L. MCCORMACK

Brigadier General Donald L. McCormack was the Assistant Adjutant General, Air at the Joint Force Headquarters, Maine Air National Guard. General McCormack served as the principal advisor to the Governor and The Adjutant General on a broad range of matters concerning the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. He was responsible for the operations of plans and programs affecting more than 1,100 Maine Air National Guard personnel located in Augusta, Bangor, and South Portland. His broad range of responsibilities included ensuring combat readiness and mission capability of a tanker wing and two geographically separated mission support units. He also coordinated with the Army National Guard senior leadership on joint programs and activities within the state. He assumed this position April 28, 2011.
General McCormack graduated and was commissioned from the United States Air Force Academy in 1980. He flew search and rescue helicopters credited with saving 18 lives before being assigned to fly presidential support helicopters from Andrews Air Force Base. He served as the Manufacturing Manager responsible for production decisions on the AC-130U gunship and the CV-22A Osprey before joining the Maine Air National Guard. General McCormack served as a Combat Communications Squadron Commander, Director of Staff and Chief of Staff for the Maine National Guard Joint Staff prior to his current position.
