Brigadier General Joseph J. Brandemuehl is Commander, 115th Fighter Wing, located at Dane County Regional Airport - Truax Field, Madison, Wisconsin. As Commander, he is responsible for the organization, training and equipping of nearly 1,200 active-guard and traditional forces serving the dual mission of state and federal responsibility falling under the Governor of Wisconsin and President of the United States. The 115th Fighter Wing operates the F-16C+ 'Fighting Falcon' as its primary weapon system, as well as, the RC-26B aircraft in the global Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission.
General Brandemuehl received his commission in 1985 after graduating from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science. He is a command pilot with over 3,200 flying hours, of which over 2,000 are in the F-16C/D. In addition to his command duties, General Brandemuehl has served from April 2007 to April 2009, as Chair, Air National Guard F-16 Fighter Weapon Systems Council and as member of the Air Directorate Field Advisory Council.
