Assistant
to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard Matters
Major General Wilton S. Gorske is Assistant to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard Matters, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia. He is responsible for providing the Chairman with timely insights on the National Guard which are enabled by collaboration with the Office of Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, Unified Combatant Commands, Service Staffs and Reserve Components. He also serves as the Chairman's liaison with the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Reserve Affairs), Reserve Component Chiefs and various reserve forces policy boards. In addition, General Gorske provides subject-matter expertise to the Joint Staff on force integration, operational employment and strategic engagement of the Reserve Components.
General Gorske was commissioned in 1983 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Texas. Prior to receiving his commission, General Gorske served as an enlisted member of the 1136th Infantry Detachment of the Texas National Guard. In 1989, he transferred to the Georgia Army National Guard.
