MAJOR GENERAL SCOTT L. THOELE

 

Deputy Commanding General (Reserve Component), Forces Command

Major General Scott L. Thoele is Deputy Commanding General (Reserve Component), Forces Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He serves as the senior Army Guard advisor and personal representative of the Commanding General (CG), Forces Command (FORSCOM). General Thoele observes, monitors and reports on the conduct of training of Army National Guard (ARNG) units. He provides candid advice, feedback and recommendations to CG, FORSCOM, on ARNG readiness. General Thoele maintains direct communication and coordination with the Director, ARNG, FORSCOM staff, First Army leadership and State Adjutant Generals. He actively participates in the FORSCOM Community Outreach and Strategic Communication programs. General Thoele also conducts liaison with the Army Reserve Forces Policy Committee and the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

General Thoele received his commission in the United States Army in December 1980 from the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. He has served as an Infantry and Special Forces Officer throughout his career. General Thoele has participated in Operation Urgent Fury, Desert Storm Southwest Asia Cease Fire Campaign, Hurricane Mitch Relief Operations, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His most recent combat assignment was Commander, 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team and Deputy Commander, Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan, from September 2008 to November 2009. Prior to his current assignment, General Thoele served as the Deputy Commanding General-ARNG at the Combined Arms Center in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
